President’s Report

For generations, the Wedgewood Swim Club has been an oasis treasured by families of Haddonfield. In a time of such uncertainty related to the pandemic, it was so great to see everyone enjoying their well-deserved family time at the pool this past summer. Now, more than ever, we are reminded that the simple things are what matter the most. I hope you are enjoying your membership and encourage you to take advantage of all that the club has to offer.

Special thanks to our management team and our life guard staff for doing everything they could to keep us safe and make our trips to the pool as enjoyable as possible.

Our Swim and Dive Teams enjoyed a return to some normalcy. We had more than 120 swimmers and 55 divers participate. The A-Division swim meets were not scored but many of our swimmers qualified for the Tri-County Championships which had qualifying times that were lowered to limit the number of participants. We also had 21 divers qualify for the SJDA Championship. Congratulations to those swimmers and divers that broke records this year. In addition to some great competition, the teams had so much fun. If you think your child would enjoy swimming or diving, please look for registration information in the spring. We are always looking for more Ducks! Thank you to longtime swim Head Coach Jim Villa and Dive Head Coach John Morris and their respective coaching staff for everything they do. We have an incredible coaching staff.

Due to higher operating and maintenance costs, there will be a membership dues increase for the 2022 season. Annual dues for each adult will be $175. Children and senior members will be $100. The per individual assessment for bondholders remains at $15. The registration system will be updated with these new rates when it opens up in January. While we hope that everyone remains with us as members of the club, if you do intend to resign your bond for 2022, the latest date that you can do so is Tuesday, February 1, 2022. All resignations received after that date will be effective for the 2023 season. Dues for the 2022 season must be paid in full by March 1, 2022 in order to avoid any late fees.

We are currently looking for a vendor to operate the snack bar for the 2022. This is a great opportunity for a local restauranteur or entrepreneur. Please refer anyone interested to Board Member Bill Gramigna for additional details.

Lastly, I would like to thank our dedicated Board for their hard work over this past year. Many Board Members put in hours far above and beyond what anyone would expect to make sure the club and all we offer runs as smoothly as possible for everyone to enjoy. I would also like to express my gratitude to Leona McFadden for her years of service on the Board. Her counsel and leadership have been extremely beneficial to Wedgewood. Leona will be transitioning off of the Board after the Annual Meeting in January.

The annual meeting will be held via Zoom on January 10th at 7pm. A Zoom link will be sent as a follow-up.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2022 and look forward to seeing you at the pool.

Best,

Joseph P. Anton, President
