ARTICLE I

Name

The name of the club shall be Wedgewood Swim Club.

ARTICLE II

Object

The purpose for which this Club is formed is to establish and maintain a private club for the athletic, recreational, and social enjoyment of its members, and in pursuance thereof to construct, own, and operate a swimming pool and other recreational facilities, together with such incidental objects as are appropriate in the conduct of its activities in the Borough of Haddonfield, County of Camden, and State of New Jersey, for the exclusive use of its members.

ARTICLE III

Government

The Club shall be managed by a Board of Trustees, not to exceed thirteen in number. The Board may reduce its number to no less than seven (7) due to lack of volunteers or to increase efficiency.

ARTICLE IV

Board of Trustees

Section 1. COMPOSITION

The Board of Trustees shall be composed of a Board not to exceed thirteen members, unless reduced as set forth above, each elected for a term of two years or until a successor is elected or appointed as hereinafter provided. Upon the expiration of the President’s term in office, he/she shall become an ex-officio non-voting member of the Board of Trustees for a term of one year.

Section 2. ELECTION

1. At each annual meeting of members of the Club, vacancies created due to the expiration of a trustee’s term, shall be filled by the process of election from among the individuals nominated, for a term of two years and until their successors have been chosen.

2. At each annual meeting of the Club, trustees shall be elected from among the nominees to replace those trustees who for any reason are not able to complete there terms of office. A trustee elected under this section of the By-Laws shall fill the unexpired term of the trustee who has been replaced. A vacancy in the Board of Trustees resulting from election of a member with unexpired term to executive officer shall be filled in this manner.

Section 3 QUALIFICATIONS.

1. Only certificate Holders and General Members are eligible to be elected to the Board of Trustees. Seniors who are no longer required to hold a bond due to their age, are also eligible.

2. Any member of the Board of Trustees who shall cease to be a Certificate Holder or a General Member of the club automatically shall cease to be a member of the Board of Trustees.

Section 4 NOMINATIONS.

1. There shall be a Nominating committee to be composed of five (5) members of the Club. Two (2) members shall be elected at the Annual Meeting of the Club, the other three (3) shall be elected by the Board of Trustees, from among the Trustees whose terms of office shall not expire at the ensuing Annual Meeting of the Club. A vacancy occurring among the three (3) members chosen by the Trustees shall be filled by the Trustees.

2. The Nominating Committee shall nominate candidates for the vacancies in the Board of Trustees to be filled at the Annual Meeting and two (2) candidates for the next year’s Nominating Committee; and shall report such nomination to the secretary on or before December 15. The Nominating Committee shall select one candidate for each vacancy.

3. Independent nomination of candidates for election at the Annual Meeting may be made by a letter, signed by twenty-five (25) members, and delivered to the secretary at least fifteen (15) days before the Annual Meeting. The secretary shall give notice thereof to all members entitled to vote at least seven (7) days before the Annual Meeting.

Section 5. POWERS AND DUTIES

1. Consistent with these By-Laws the Board of Trustees shall:

1. Transact all Club business and make and amend the rules for the regulation or the use of Club property. It may appoint and remove such officers, clerks, agents, servants, or employees as it may deem necessary and may fix their duties and compensations.

2. Elect members.

3. Fix, impose, and remit penalties for violations of these By-Laws and Rules of the Club.

4. Elect officers.

5. In the absence of appointment of standing committees or special committees by the President, with confirmation by the Board of Directors, appoint such committees and define the powers and duties of such committees.

6. Fill any vacancy in the membership of the Board of Trustees to serve until the next Annual Meeting of members.

2. The Board of Trustees shall designate the bank or banks in which the funds of the Club shall be deposited and determine the manner in which checks, drafts, and other instruments for the Board of Trustees shall always require that at least two officers sign all such checks, drafts, or other instruments for the payment of money drawn in the name of the Club, for amounts equal to or exceeding $1000.00.

3. The Board of Trustees shall cause the books of the Club to be audited annually by auditors selected by the Trustees, who shall neither be Trustees nor officers of the Club, and the report of the auditors shall be available to the members.

Section 6. MEETINGS.

1. The Board of Trustees shall hold its first meeting following the Annual Meeting of the members in each year as promptly as practicable.

2. The Board of Trustees may, by resolution, establish from time to time a schedule of its meetings and rules for the conduct thereof.

3. Special meetings of the Board of Trustees may be called by the President, and shall be called by the Secretary upon the request of three members of the Board.

4. Notice of the regular monthly, and special Board meetings shall be mailed to each member of the Board before the date of the meeting.

Section 7. QUORUM.

A majority of the members of the Board shall constitute a quorum.

Section 8. BORROWING.

Nothing in these By-Laws shall be construed to permit the Board of Trustees to borrow or pledge the credit of the Club in excess of $5000 without specific approval of the members, except that a maximum of $50,000 may be borrowed without membership approval if necessary to keep the swim club operable. Such decision regarding operability shall be made by a majority of the Board.

Section 9. REMOVAL.

Any executive officer or member of the Board of Trustees may be removed from office by a majority vote of the members present in person or represented by proxy at either the Annual Meeting or a Special Meeting called in accordance with these By-Laws.

ARTICLE V

Officers

Section 1. EXECUTIVE OFFICERS.

The executive officers of the Club shall be the President and two Vice Presidents, a Treasurer, and Secretary who shall be elected annually for a term of one year by the Board of Trustees prior to the Annual Meeting of the Club. No person shall be elected Vice President until he/she has served at least one year as a member of the Board of Trustees. No person shall be elected President until he/she has served at least two years as either a member of the Board of Trustees or an executive officer.

Section 2 DUTIES.

1. The President shall preside at the meetings of the Club and of the Board of Trustees. He/she shall be the administrative officer of the Club. He/she shall appoint, subject to confirmation by the Board of Trustees, all committees and designate the chairman thereof. He shall be, ex-officio, a member of all committees.

2. The Treasurer shall act for the President in the absence of disability of the President. He shall under the direction of the President attend to the operation and maintenance of the physical plant and properties of the Club, the social and personnel activities of the Club.

3. The Vice President of Facilities shall act for the President in the absence or disability of both the President and the Treasurer. The Vice President of Personnel shall act for the President in the absence or disability of the President, the, and the Vice President of Facilities.

4. The secretary shall send out the notices of the meetings of the Club and the Board of Trustees, keep the minutes, and attend to the correspondence pertaining to this office. He/she shall perform such other duties pertaining to this office as may be asked by the Board of Trustees.

5. The Treasurer shall attend to the accounts of the Club, collecting its revenues, and paying its bills as approved by the Board of Trustees, or other agency authorized by the Board of Trustees to incur them. He/she shall deposit funds of the Club received by him/her, in the name of the Club in such depository as may be authorized by the Board. He/she shall perform such other duties pertaining to his/her office as may be asked by the Board. He shall be bonded. At the Annual Meeting the Treasurer shall make a financial report for the previous calendar year.

6. The Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer, if such offices exist, shall perform duties as may be assigned them by the Secretary, or Treasurer, respectively, or by the Board of Trustees.

ARTICLE VI

Membership Meetings

Section 1. ANNUAL MEETING.

1. The annual meeting of the Club shall be held during the month of January in each year following the l0th of the month at such place and time as the Board of Trustees may determine.

1. The purpose of the annual meeting shall be for the election of trustees, presenting committee reports, presenting the treasurer’s report and the transaction of such other business as may properly be brought before it. No action for an assessment of the members or to borrow in excess of $50,000.for which assets of the Club shall be pledged may be taken unless notice of the meeting shall have listed such action for consideration at the meeting.

2. Notice of the Annual Meeting shall be given by mail to all members at least thirty (30) days prior thereto. One copy of the notice to the last known address of the membership records of the Club at the time of mailing shall be sufficient notice to all members in the same family.

3. The notice shall include:

1. The time and place of the meeting.
2. Copy of the treasurer’s report.
3. Names and candidates nominated by the Nominating Committee.
4. Any proposal for consideration with reference to an assessment or to borrow in excess of $5000.00 for which assets of the Club shall be pledged or mortgaged.
5. Twenty-five (25) members entitled to vote, present, in person or by proxy shall constitute a quorum.

Section 2. SPECIAL MEETINGS.

Special meetings of the Club may be called by the Board of Trustees. Also, upon the written request of fifty (50) members to the Secretary, stating the purpose therefore, a special meeting shall be called by the Secretary within thirty (30) days at such time and place as the Board of Trustees may determine. No business other than that specified in the notice for the special meeting shall be transacted thereat.
1. Notice of special meetings shall be given by mail to all members at least seven (7) days prior thereto. One copy of the notice to the last known address on the membership records of the corporation at the time of mailing shall be sufficient notice to all members in the same family.

2. The notice shall include:

1. The time and place of the meeting.
2. Purpose for which the meeting is called.

3. Twenty-five (25) members entitled to vote, present in person or by proxy shall constitute a quorum.

Section 3. VOTING MEMBERS

Each Certificate Holder shall be entitled to two votes, to vote in person or by proxy. If the certificate Holder(s) is married, each spouse shall be entitled to one vote. If the Certificate Holder is unmarried, the Certificate Holder shall be entitled to two votes. Voting may be viva voce, but ten (10) voting members including those represented by proxy, shall have the right to assessments or to removal of officers or trustees. A demand for written ballot shall take precedence over a demand for roll call.

Section 4. PROXY VOTING.

A certificate Holder and Spouse shall be entitled to vote by proxy; provided however, such proxy shall be in writing, signed by the Voting Member, and may only be voted by another Voting Member; and provided further, that not more than two proxies shall be represented by any attending Voting Member.

Section 5 RULES OF ORDER

The rules contained in Robert’s Rules of Order. Revised shall govern the Club in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the By-Laws.

ARTICLE VII

Committees

The duties and powers of committees shall be designated by \the Board of Trustees and subject to its authority.

There shall be a membership committee composed of Certificate Holder members charged with the orderly and fair administration of membership applications, no member of which shall be either a member of the Board of Trustees or an executive officer. Said committee shall be appointed annually by the Board of Trustees at its first regular meeting in June or as soon thereafter as may be practicable.

ARTICLE VIII

Membership

Section 1. TYPES OF MEMBERS

Membership in the Club shall consist of individuals who shall fall within one of the following classes:

1. Certificate Holder.
2. General Member.
3. Junior Member.
4. Special Member.
5. Senior Member.

Section 2. DEFINITIONS OF MEMBERS

The following definitions shall define the classes of members:

1. Certificate Holders shall consist of holders of certificates purchased from the Club.

2. General Members shall consist of all adult relatives who reside in the same household of a Certificate Holder–other than junior members.

3. Junior Members shall consist of children under 23 years of age, residing in the household of the Certificate Holder, or Senior Member, and who has surrendered his or her certificate in accordance with Article VIII, Section 2. 5.

4. Special Members shall consist of such other persons as shall be approved by the Board of Trustees for membership in the Club and shall have all the rights of a General Member, except guest privileges.

5. Senior Members shall consist of certificate Holders who have reached the age of 62 years; who have been Certificate Holders for at least five years; who have made application to the Board of Trustees for approval and qualification as a Senior Member; and who have surrendered his or her certificate in accordance with Article IX, section 2.2 and its acquisition by such other person as may be approved by the Board of Trustees. The number of Senior Members shall be determined by the Board of Trustees and in the order in which applications for such membership are received.

Section 3. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS

The Board of Trustees shall consider applications for membership in the Club when vacancies exist. Candidates for membership shall be personally known and recommended by at least two members of the Club. The Board of Trustees shall vote upon each applicant and shall confer membership only upon those applicants who shall be approved by a majority of members present at a meeting of the Board but in no case by less than five members of the Board.

The candidates for membership shall be residents of the Borough of Haddonfield. However, if no Haddonfield residents are on the membership waiting list, non-Haddonfield residents may then be considered for membership.

Section 4. WITHDRAWAL OF MEMBERSHIP.

Any member of the Club may withdraw at any time, but there shall be no refund of the current year’s dues.

Section 5. SUSPENSION OF MEMBERSHIP.

1. The Board of Trustees may revoke, for a period not to exceed one year, a members guest privileges, if it is determined by the Board that a guest of a particular member was found to be in violation of the rules of the Club. In addition, a guest found to be in violation of the rules of the Club, will not be permitted as a guest of the Club for a period to be determined by the Board.

2. Any member of any class may, for cause and after having been given an opportunity for a hearing, be suspended for a period not exceeding three months by a two-thirds vote of the members .of the Board of Trustees present at any meeting thereof, or expelled by a two-thirds vote of the entire membership of the Board. Cause for suspension, or expulsion shall, in general, consist of violation of these Bylaws or of the rules of the Club.

3. The Board of Trustees may delegate to a responsible member of the Club, the power to suspend pool privileges for the violation of the Club Rules and Regulations provided such suspension does not exceed seven days. A written report of such suspension, containing reasons therefore, shall be submitted to the President within twenty-four hours.

Section 6. PRIVILEGES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

1. All classes of members of the Club shall be accorded the facilities of the Club subject to the pool Rules and Regulations, which shall be available in the manager’s office.

2. The Board of Trustees at its discretion may extend the privileges of the Club to any person or persons.

3. The Board of Trustees shall by rule fix the terms and conditions upon which guests of members may use the facilities of the Club.
4. Any property of the Club broken or damaged by a member of any class, or his guests, shall be promptly paid for by such member.

5. The Club assumes no responsibility, and members (of an’ class) or their guests can have no claim against the Club, for the property of members of any class, or any guest, which may be brought into of left in the Club buildings, or on the grounds.

6. The Club assumes no responsibility, and members (of, class) or their guests can have no claim against the Club, for any accident or injury to any person or their property.

ARTICLE IX

Certificates, Dues, Assessments and Fees.

Section 1. NUMBER OF CERTIFICATES

The number of certificates issued by the Club shall be established at 450, but may be increased to no more than 500, if necessary.

Section 2. TRANSFERABILITY OF CERTIFICATES.

1. Certificate Holders, subject to the terms of these Bylaws, as from time to time amended, may transfer the Certificate by sale, gift or devise to his or her spouse or issue, subject however to the approval of such transferee by the Board of Trustees.

2. The certificate Holder may not otherwise sell, assign or transfer his or her Certificate to any person, but must sell, assign or transfer said certificate back to the Club at the then prevailing market price for said Certificate. This market price shall be determined by reference to the amount which an acceptable new applicant for membership in the Club may offer to apply for it but in no event shall such sales price to the Certificate Holder exceed $850.00 together with any additional assessments. In the event that the Club does not desire to purchase said Certificate, the Board of Trustees may, in writing, specifically permit the Certificate Holder to sell, assign and transfer said Certificate, together with the interests, rights and privileges incident thereto, to such other person as maybe approved by the Board of Trustees.

Section 3. SUSPENSION OF CERTIFICATE HOLDER PRIVILEGES.

In the event of failure of the certificate Holder to pay any dues, fees or assessment within the time specified by the Board of Trustees, the Board of Trustees may declare all rights and privileges of such certificate Holder in and to the use of the Club facilities to be suspended and without effect until payment of all sums due from the certificate Holder to the Club.

Section 4. VOIDING OF CERTIFICATE.

In the event the certificate Holder shall fail to pay any dues, fees assessments of other charges within Four (4) months after written notice such sums are due, the Certificate issued in the name of the Certificate Holder may be declared null and void and sale of the new Certificate in place of the Certificate declared void, after deducting all unpaid sums due for which notice has been given shall be refunded to the Certificate Holder of the Certificate declared null and void.

Section 5. DUES.

1. The Board of Trustees, before April 15 of each year, shall establish dues for each class of membership for the ensuing year, which dues shall be sufficient to provide for the necessary operating expenses of the Club, the proper maintenance and improvement of its property, and amortization of approved indebtedness.

2. Dues shall generally be payable by March 1 of each year, however from time to time the Board may establish another due date but in no event before March 1st.

3. No dues, nor part thereof, shall be refunded in the event that the Club is required to suspend its operations for any period.

4. Certificate Holders shall pay annual dues and be subject to assessments.

5. The Certificate Holder shall be obligated for the payment of the dues, assessments or other charges established for or incurred by the Certificate Holder, General Members and Junior Members who reside in the household of the Certificate Holder.

6. General Members shall pay annual dues, but shall not be subject to assessments. Dues of General Members shall not exceed the dues of Certificate Holders.

7. Junior members shall pay annual dues, but shall not be subject to assessments. Dues of Junior Members shall not exceed the dues of Certificate Holders.

8. The dues of Senior Members and the dues for the spouse of a senior member shall be published in the Rules & Regulations. A Junior Member living with a Senior Member shall pay full Junior Membership dues.

9. Special Members shall pay annual dues and be subject to assessments. Dues and assessments of Special Members shall not exceed the dues and assessments of Certificate Holders.

10. All dues and assessments unpaid as of the date set by the Board of Trustees for final payment shall incur a charge of $50.00 if final payment is not received within one month after the due date. In addition if payment is not received within one month after the due date the Board of Trustees will provide written notice by certified and regular mail to the Certificate Holder, that they will have 15 days upon that mailing to provide their dues and any late penalties otherwise the Board can remove the member as a Certificate Holder. Repeat offenders of this Bylaw, totaling two (2) years (not necessarily consecutive), may have their Certificate revoked and notice of the same shall be given by the Treasurer to the Certificate Holder.

Section 6. ASSESSMENTS.

Certificate Holders and Special Members shall be subject to assessments recommended by the Board of Trustees and approved by a majority vote of the voting members present in person or by proxy at the Annual Meeting or a Special Meeting of the Club called for that purpose or at which the question of assessment is on the agenda.

Section 7. INITIATION FEE.

The Board of Trustees may require payment of an initiation fee by all new members.

Section 8.

Failure to pay dues, assessments and/or any fines shall constitute good cause for the removal of the Certificate Holder as a member. Removal shall be accomplished by providing written notice by certified and regular mail that the Certificate Holder has 15 days to pay any monies due. If payment is not made the Board of Trustees shall revoke the members Bond.

ARTICLE X

Indemnification

Section 1. INDEMNIFICATION OF TRUSTEES.

1. Each person who acts as Trustee or officer of the Club shall be indemnified by the Club against all liabilities and expenses, including attorney’s fees, actually, reasonably and necessarily incurred by or imposed upon him or her in connection with any action, suit or proceeding in which he or she is made a party, or in which he or she may become involved, by reason of his or her being of having been a Trustee of officer of the Club, or any settlement thereof whether he or she is a Trustee or officer of the Club at the time such liabilities and/or expenses are incurred, except in relation to matters as to which he or she shall be adjudged in such action, suit, or proceeding to be liable for gross negligence or willful misconduct, and except any sum paid for the Club in settlement of an action, suit or proceeding based on gross negligence or willful misconduct in the performance of his or her duties; provided, however, that in the event of a settlement, the indemnification shall apply only when the Board of Trustees approves such settlement and reimbursement as being for the best interest of the Club.

2. The right of indemnification provided herein shall insure to each Trustee and officer referred to in paragraph 1, whether or not he or she is such Trustee of officer at the time such costs or expenses are imposed or incurred, and in the event of his or her death shall extend to his legal representatives.

ARTICLE XI

Bylaws

Section 1. INTERPRETATION.

Any question as to the meaning for proper interpretation of any of the provisions of these Bylaws shall be determined by the Board of Trustees.

Section 2. AMENDMENT.

These Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present in person or represented by proxy at any meeting of the Club, provided each member is given at least seven days notice by mail of the proposed action to amend the Bylaws.

RULES AND REGULATIONS OF WEDGEWOOD SWIM CLUB
(Revised December 2003)

Our rules and regulations are designed to keep our Swim Club the best and most desirable club in the area. They are designed to provide the greatest safety, the most convenience and the finest enjoyment for the greatest number of our members.

The Club supervisors are instructed to enforce these rules without exception. We ask that you talk these rules over with your children and explain that violations will not be tolerated. The Club Manager, or his representative, including supervisory personnel, shall have the right to enforce these rules and may do so by imposing reasonable sanctions upon the offender, subject to the general direction of the Board of Trustees. The imposition of suspension of pool and Club privileges beyond three (3) days and expulsion shall be reserved to the Board of Trustees pursuant to the By-Laws.

I. POOL HOURS

Hours will be determined by the Board and posted by the front entrance of the Swim Club.

A. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), certain areas of the main pool will be reserved for private and group lessons.

B. The pool will close and all persons will exit the pool 15 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time. All persons will leave the pool by the scheduled closing time.

C. The pool will be closed at the discretion of the manager on duty for maintenance work or in case of inclement weather.

II. GUESTS AND VISITORS

A. All guests and visitors must be registered and accompanied by a member. Failure to register guest(s) will result in a warning for the first offense, the second offense will result in a fifty-dollar fine ($50.00). Any subsequent offense will result in a one hundred dollar fine ($100.00).

B. Rates:

1. Houseguests of members:

a. 1 week: $25.00 per person over 4 years of age

b. 2 weeks: $35.00 per person over 4 years of age

c. 3 weeks to 1 month: $50.00 per person over 4 years of age

2. Guest Fees:

a. Weekdays: Adults $6.00 each per day
Children (2-18) $4 each per day

b. Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays: Adults $6.00 each per day
Children (2-18) $4 each per day
c. After 5:30 p.m.: Adults and Children $3.00

C. Houseguests are defined as individuals who are guests in a member’s home and who
reside out of state or, if residents of New Jersey, more than 20 miles from Haddonfield.

D. Local or other guests living within a l0-mile radius of Haddonfield shall be limited to 8 privileges per season.

E. Additional privileges may be granted at the discretion of the Club Manager or his representative.

F. Adult members may bring visitors who are attired in normal street clothes to use the snack bar facilities at any time without charge.

G. Members of the Board of Trustees may bring guests, without charge and without limitation.

H. A person that resides in the household of a member or an au pair or a permanent summer baby sitter, 18 years or older shall not be considered a guest or visitor, but shall be a special member for whom adult dues shall be paid. A permanent summer babysitter, or au pair, or person residing in the household of a member less than 18 years old, shall be a Special Member for whom Junior dues shall be paid.

I. Non-permanent summer babysitters shall pay regular guest fees, a babysitter must be 14 years or older. Non-permanent, non-member, babysitters are not limited to eight (8) visits per season, but must babysitting at the pool, in order to be eligible for the unlimited visits.

III. HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES

A. All members, guests and visitors, including children, using the Club’s facilities and parking areas, do so at their own risk. The Club cannot be responsible for any accident in connection with such use.

B. To assure conformity with accepted standards of hygiene, admission to the pools may be refused to anyone with colds, coughs, inflamed eyes, infections, or when wearing a bandage.

C. No glass containers of any kind will be allowed in the premises.

D. No pets will be allowed within the pool grounds.

E. No abusive or profane language shall be used by any member or guest.

F. No alcoholic beverage will be permitted in the Clubhouse or on the Club property, except at adult social functions.

G. Members shall drive slowly and carefully at all times in the Club area.

H. There will be no tipping at any time.

I. During swimming meets, the diving boards will be closed.

J. No flotation devices are permitted in the mail pool, except doughnut-like devices which surround the upper arms of small children. Parents of children using these devices in the main pool must supervise their child(ren) and be in the pool with the child(ren). From time to time (such as Tube Night) single open bottom inner tubes will be permitted. Other floatation devices such kick boards, boogie boards, and use of balls in the pool will be at the sole discretion of the manager or their representative.

K. Lifeguards are in charge of enforcing rules and regulations as they pertain to the pool and premises.

L. No talking to guards or climbing on guard stand while the guards are on duty.

M. Children without the lower status bands and/or under the age of 13 are not permitted in or near the main pool unless supervised by a responsible adult. Because the color of bands changes from time to time, bands are delineated as lower status and higher status.

N. Use of starting blocks shall be permitted only by members of swim team supervised by an adult and at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.

O. No running on the deck or cement portions of the pool or club.

P. No rough housing in the pool, clubhouse or on the grounds of the Club.

Q. Diving is not permitted from the shallow end of the pool and areas as indicated by “NO DIVING” signs.

R. DIVING RULES:

1. The diving area will be entered from diving boards, except when diving boards are closed.

2. After diving from boards, use the exit closest to the board used.

3. All diving from both boards will be “straight” out.

4. Only one person at a time shall be on a diving board.

5. Any person who cannot swim or does not have a higher status band IS NOT PERMITTED IN THE DIVING WELL.

6. Only one “bounce” is permitted while on diving boards.

7. When boards are open, there will not be any diving from the edge of the pool.

8. At no time will back dives or flips be done from the edge of the pool except during
diving practice at the supervision of the diving coach.

IV. ADDITIONAL RULES FOR CHILDREN

A. Children who have not reached their 10th birthday as of the opening of the pool (Memorial Day weekend), will not be permitted within the Club at any time unless they are accompanied by either his or her parent or guardian or someone over the age of 14 with the parent or guardian’s permission.

B. Children under the age of 13 who have passed a swimming requirement, must wear the prescribed band at all times when at the Club.

C. Children who have passed a 25-meter test (lower status band) may use only the main pool.

D. Children who have passed a l00-meter test and a one-meter board test (higher status band) may use the main pool, the main pool diving area and the one-meter boards.

E. Running. pushing, wrestling, ball playing or undue disturbances will not be not be tolerated.

F. All athletic activities (other than swimming and basketball) will be held in the Glen.

G. Bicycles and mopeds shall be stored neatly in the prescribed area.

H. No diapers or “non-potty trained” children are permitted in the main pool at any time.

V. BAND RULES

A. LOWER STATUS BANDS:

1. Areas 3’, 4’ and 5’, including the diving well

2. The swimmer must:

(a) Exhibit swimming competence in completing one length of the pool;

(b) jump in the 5’ end and surface;

(c) tread water for one minute without touching the wall.

B. HIGHER STATUS BANDS:

1. Areas: Entire pool and the one-meter boards

2. The swimmer must:

(a) swim four (4) consecutive lengths of the pool

(b) tread water for two minutes without touching the wall;

(c) jump or dive from the one meter board.

VI. BABY POOL RULES

A. Banded swimmers over the age of six are not permitted in the baby pool.

B. Parents are responsible for the safety of their children while in the baby pool and must supervise them and never leave them unattended.

VII. LAP LANE RULES

A. Lap lane is to be used solely for swimming laps, swimming lessons, or band testing.

B. Adult swimmers have priority use over child swimmers in the lap lane(s).

C. Children are not to swim in the lap lane while adult swimmers are doing laps.

VIII. GENERAL

A. Members or guests behaving in an inappropriate fashion may be suspended from pool privileges for a period of up to 3 days at the discretion of the Pool Manager or representative. (The Board should remember that when meeting regarding a minor’s discipline problem or making a note in the minutes regarding said minor only the initials of said minor should be used, for example “J.W.” This is required by law).

B. Unreasonable reservation of chairs and tables for later occupancy is an unwarranted hardship to other members and is prohibited.

C. The cost of the Bond Certificate is $850.00; initiation fee is $650.00. Dues for the year are $l45.00 per adult and $85.00 for each child over 2 years of age as of May 1; and $80.00 for senior members. For the purpose of this paragraph, “child” is defined as a child of a member up to and including the age of 23 years who resides in the parent’s home. A late fee of $50.00 will be charged for any member who did not pay their dues by the invoice deadline. Any bondholder who does not pay dues on time, two years in a row, shall surrender their bond and same shall be offered to the next potential member on the list. (See XIII C for August and Evening Membership fees and policies).

D. Any member of the staff apprehending someone trespassing on the Club grounds when the pool is closed has been advised to contact the police immediately. In the event the trespasser is a member of the Club, that person will lose all Club privileges for a minimum period of two weeks for a first offense or a longer period as determined by the Board. In the event the individual is not a Club member, that individual will be denied the privilege of being brought into the Club as a guest of any Club member for the entire season. Trespassers whether a member or non-member may be subject to criminal prosecution, The Bondholder shall be responsible for any damages or costs incurred by the Club.

(a) Second violation:

Suspension for the remainder of the season, but in no event for a period of less than one month. Said suspensions may be carried over into the subsequent season.

XII. TENNIS COURTS

A. General Rules:

1. While the courts are available for the enjoyment of all members, they are designed only to be utilized for tennis. Consequently, all other activities must be banned from the courts.

2. Only approved tennis shoes will be permitted to be worn on the court. Bare feet or basketball, jogging or street shoes are prohibited.

3. Please observe the prescribed time limits.

4. When others are waiting, doubling up is suggested for compatible players.

5. Keep the surface clean from all ball cans, lids, trash, etc.

6. Do not climb the fence surrounding the courts.

7. Do not “hang” from the nets.

8. Courts may be closed at the discretion of the pool manager.

9. Hours of play are 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

10. Please comply with special weekend, holiday and weeknight reservation systems.
The information concerning reservations shall be provided at the front desk.

11. When the pool is closed all members are to sign the logbook before playing and to register guests.

12. Regular guest fee charges apply at all times, at $5.00 per hour for each guest. Members will be billed for these fees and for guest fees accrued when the pool is closed.

13. Only teaching tennis professional(s) approved by the Board shall be permitted to give tennis lessons.

14. Failure to register tennis guests shall be enforced as in Section II paragraph A of these Rules and Regulations.

15. Periods of play shall be limited to one hour, unless there are open courts available.

16. The Board of Trustees may designate one or more courts for the exclusive use of a tennis professional in order to give tennis lessons and information concerning the times and courts shall be available at the desk.
17. No person shall reserve space nor play more than once in the period from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., EXCEPT that after playing for one hour, should there be an open hour, said person may register and play in such open hour.

18. Individuals who have not yet graduated from high school may not make reservations unless playing with an adult.

XIII. POLICY PROCEDURES FOR MEMBERSHIP AN
MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS

A. General

1. Membership at Wedgewood is a Family Membership. Therefore, regardless of how often a family member frequents the Club, dues must be paid for all Family Members.

2. Membership in the Club is possible through sponsorship by a Certificate Holding Member of one-year duration and by one secondary recommendation, referred to as a “Second”. The “Second” must also be a Certificate Holding Member. A Senior Member may not sponsor or be a “Second.”

3. Each named bondholder may sponsor one application for membership and second two other applications in any one calendar year.

4. The sponsor for an applicant is responsible for obtaining the application from the Membership Committee and for submitting the completed application forms (including the required second recommendation) to the Wedgewood Swim Club, Post Office Box 274, Haddonfield, New Jersey 08033.

(a) The residency requirement must still be met

5. Ex-members who are now 62 years of age or greater may be reinstated by submitting a letter to the Membership Chairman requesting reinstatement. The residency requirement must be met. Seniors who are approved for reinstatement will be reinstated as non-bondholding Senior Members.

6. In cases of divorce:

(a) The former spouse or named bondholder may apply for membership
through standard procedures.

(b) After screening by the Membership Committee and approval by the Board, the applicant shall be placed at the top of the approved waiting list. The residency requirement must still be met.

B. Deferred Consideration:

If an applicant is approved by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors for acceptance in a particular year and the applicant, for valid reasons, cannot accept membership at that time, but wishes his application to be held over until the following year, the application will be placed at the top of the list. The application will become void if the applicant does not accept admittance to membership on the offer in the second year.

C. Preference List:

The adult children of dues-paying, actively named bondholders shall, providing they are residents of the Borough of Haddonfield, initiate the normal application procedure through a sponsor and a second and may be placed at the top of the application list. Children of Senior Members’ who have surrendered their certificate shall not receive preference.

D. Other

1. No member may take a leave of absence and remain a bondholder. Annual dues must be paid or the member must resign. There are no exceptions or credits for spouses who do not attend or who are away for a summer except for spouses with armed services who are on active duty status.

2. The Membership Committee has no responsibility to the applicant; its responsibility lies with the current membership.

3. The Membership Committee assumes no responsibility for lost applications unless the sponsor has the Membership Committee receipt.

4. Children over 18 yrs old who do not wish to utilize the pool may be removed from the family membership through a letter to the Board contingent upon the acceptance by the Board. This individual may come to the pool as a guest of the member.

5. If a Bondholder moves from the Borough of Haddonfield, he/she shall surrender his/her Bond to the Board to then be offered to the next person on the waiting list as prescribed by these Rules and the Board of Trustees.

If that individual returns to the Borough they shall have his/her name moved to the top of the waiting list.

E. August and Evening Memberships

1. The Board of Trustees may offer on an annual basis waiting list applicants an “Evening” or “August” membership.

2. This limited membership does not entitle the participants to enroll their children in club programs not offered during their membership hours. They may utilize all the facilities of the club during their scheduled hours of membership.

3. The August Membership allows a family to use the Club from August 1 through August 31. The Evening Membership enables a family to use the Club on Weekdays (Monday through Friday) evenings after 5:30 p.m. The Evening Membership season runs from the Club’s full opening on or about June 25th through July 31st.
